A huge thank you to Deborah Procter for all her trouble taken to collect the Honours Boards from the school, cleaning it up and photographing it for us to treasure. Herewith the photos and the history behind the boards. I’ve grown to love the history of people I actually know, or have come to know. I’ve grown to understand the wisdom of the older generation and I’ve learned to listen to them!!! These boards represent accomplishments in Arts and Craftsmanship. The Matrics of 1969 commissioned Heinn Wagener’s father to do the job. Heinn describes his dad as a shy, quiet man who lived for being creative with wood. He made replicas of antiques and items of furniture for the British Royal Family. These boards display • the academic achievements of students who gained top aggregates in their final examinations, and • leadership acumen of students, being the Head Boys and Girls The boards also display fine creations by a master at his craft...a work of art indeed. The information on these Honors boards cover achievements from 1986 to 2002. If any of the readers find their names listed on the boards you can stand tall. You worked hard to excel academically and, more than likely, your drive formed a firm base on which to build your lives after leaving school. I want to specifically mention the names of the following Head Boys and Head Girls who married and are still happily teaching each other the joys of married life: Ken Higgins and Cecilie Kruger (Class of 1953), Mark Farrell and Wendy Sanger (Class of 1982), Glouda Ferreira and Laurie Stevens (classes of 1969 and ’67 respectively) It was an honor for me to have retrieved these boards from storage at the school, to clean them up and to photograph them for display on our group page. The collecting and preparation of such historical data, as well as its safe keeping until such time as a permanent home can be found for it, made all the effort and hard work a joy! - Deborah Procter Class of 1981
