A letter from parents of a child with PANDAS (made me cry). Dear Dr.Jess Hi. I will keep this as brief as possible but I really want to take the time to thank you for what you have done for us so far to help us with Sophia and our concerns regarding her health. I cant even begin to tell you what the past four years have been like and I am sure you can imagine. As a parent yourself I am sure you know what it is like to want the best for your child. You already know how many different doctors we have tried. Boy what an eye opener that was! The last thing I ever imagined was seeing doctor after doctor who just put their hands up in the air and/or completely dismissed our daughter and our concerns for her health. Then their were the doctors who just gave a label and write a script. I guess we cant blame them, thats what they were trained to do. We have yet to come across a doctor who even reviewed the health summary that we wrote or even the history of blood work that we collected. You are the first! I have acquired my own health issues as a result of the desperate concern and worry about our precious daughter her symptoms have been so hard to watch. People have told us that this is just the way she is and to just accept it. Of course I had to refuse. No one should have it just be this way. The hardest part for me has been the feeling of being the only one aside from my husband of course that was taking her health concerns seriously and not brushing it off with a general diagnosis. I will not stop until she reaches the level of health that she deserves!! Yesterday was the best day in a long time! I finally felt relief that we found someone that would work with us to figure this all out. The amount of time that you gave us and the attention to detail that you offered was more appreciated than you can even imagine!! Your follow up emails were so reassuring and I finally feel a sense of hope. I have walked around with a pit in my stomach for the past four years! That pit is starting to go away. We appreciate the fact that you have already sent us the neurotransmitter test. We can promise you that we will be as diligent as you have already been. We ordered the supplements, the 23andme test, and will send back the neurotransmitter test ASAP. We will follow everything you tell us to do. Again we cant thank you enough for picking up the phone and hearing everything we had to say about Sophia! You acted as if she is one of your own! We are so very grateful!! We are looking forward to her journey back to health.
