A list of things I wish for my son to learn how to teach himself: Music & Art - (The abtract disciplines and how to express inner-beauty, to display the consistency of his inner logic through pattern recognition and to preserve his good nature and sanity, by contributing something valuable that others will want), Literature (The will to think creatively and to compose rhythmically in a system of mono-tones), Martial Arts (The ability to stick up for himself, to move acrobatically), Morality and Logic (Where one should start and the other finish, higher human reasoning which separates us from beasts and allows us to learn from our mistakes, nor venture too far into unhallowed territory, nor hold too fast to an unkind spite), Philosophy (How to recognise a difficult truth and to test it objectively within the confines of your own imagination, whether there is an answer to be found or not), Mysticism (To understand the practise of false psychology and not use it to mislead but to understand systems and the artistry in their ability to convince others), Psychology (To recognise the tricks employed when the strength of his clarity cannot be understood, to understand the techniques of conformity, obedience and conditioning and when and why they can be trusted for the greater good. How he can discipline himself so that he hands not that power to a person whose anger and power excites them and also, so that he can teach his own children the difference between a fair and unjust punishment and a teacher whose subject is well understood.)
