A little effort for the animals every day: I carry boxes of vegetarian/vegan starter kits in my car now. Everywhere I go, I take a handful with me. Just now, in Caribou Coffee in Medina Minnesota, I put a few in the newspaper areas, said hi to customers and asked if they like animals or recipes (and when they said yes, I handed them the VSKs) and I also gave them to the staff. I do this at drive thru windows for coffee, at stores, restaurants, even the bank drive thru. Havent gotten any bad reactions yet (Im sure they will be coming :-) ) and people seem interested and even say thank you. If I just encourage them to be vegan, they often wouldnt know what it was and have nothing to look at and learn from. Handing them something to actually look at makes all the difference, I think. They have info to reference and check out and resources to utilize. When I leave, I often peek back to see if Ive just bugged anyone or if they are actually reading it and each time, they have been actually looking at the information. I have found it is a really innocuous and nonthreatening way to share information with people who may not otherwise have seen it. I mention this because it is a very easy way to do something to spread the word for the animals every single day. You never know when one or more of the people who receive this information will go vegan or at least cut down on animal consumption. At the very least, they may be more sympathetic to the animals plight. If you are interested in doing this too, just order boxes of veg starter kits from chooseveg or tryveg or veganoutreach.org
