..........A little something I wrote a few years back that I feel is appropriate for todays Christian.......... The Power of God Since childhood I have been inquisitive and amazed about why things are the way they are especially pertaining to the origin of their existence. As a boy I had a fascination with small electric motors. I can remember acquiring a small battery operated motor out of an eight track cassette player and attaching batteries to it just to watch it run. I would conduct experiments by connecting more than one battery just to see how much the small motor would tolerate. Too much power would cause the miniature motor to run at such a high rate that it would start smoking and eventually burn up, so I quickly detached it and allowed it to cool down. That wasn’t enough for my curious little mind so I can remember attaching an extension cord to the wires and plugging it into the 110-volt household current in my bedroom. Wow did I get a surprise. It blew up right before my eyes. It wasn’t designed to handle that much power nor was it designed to handle that type of current. Upon further investigation by disassembling the charred remains, I observed that the intricate wire windings of the motor were irreparable. I came to the conclusion that the motor was designed for a specific purpose and anything more than the current of electricity specified for that purpose was damaging to the motor and would ultimately cause more harm than good. Needless to say I should have left the motor in the eight-track cassette player so I could enjoy the rewards of its purpose. In the church today I see so many men of God practicing a form of godliness but denying or resisting the power of God. Second Corinthians 5:17 says that if any man is in Christ he is a new creation, old things have passed away and all things have become new. We must, in order to walk in the power of God, become fully devoted and committed denying all self-interests and selfish motives, submitting to Christ and purposing in our hearts to be available for His good work. Greatness comes through serving, the more you serve the greater you become. Our churches have become “seeker sensitive” people pleasers and not God pleasers which is contrary to the word of God. An outer high gloss to hide the cheap merchandise that is inside. We formulate structured sermons that are candy coated and allow a person to leave church “feeling good” rather than getting down to the true sinful nature of man, how all the intentions of his heart are wicked, and is at the mercy of a holy God who demands repentance. God has called us to be holy from the beginning and we have become desensitized to the true power of God allowing the ways of the world into the church. The whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one and we have allowed this subtle giant of deception to infiltrate the pulpit of our churches. This wimpy, no backbone, tender-footed form of Christianity grieves the heart of God. We have traded true Christianity for “churchianity.” He wants his children to walk in His Spirit with power, above the circumstances, enjoy His blessings, and not conform to the ways of this world. We are to be SOLDIERS for Christ. What does it actually mean to walk in the power of God? Well to begin with it starts with purpose. What is the purpose of your life? Have you ever really prayed and meditated on that question? A man lives his life for a purpose whether he lives it for Christ or for himself. Jesus said it like this, “No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon.” Being faithful in the small issues in life is extremely important. For example, when under the authority of a certain person you may be asked by him or her to do a certain task that seems frivolous or unimportant to you. If you do it without asking why or arguing the validity of the task, you learn a type of discipline that is priceless in the kingdom of God. What seems useless is actually an intricate part of the infrastructure of a bigger building project (small wire windings of a motor). Learning self-discipline in the “small things”conditions a man for God’s supernatural purposes; ultimately preparing him to be involved in the grandiose assignment of furthering the gospel of Jesus Christ. Our churches are full of wimpy men who refuse to take a stand for what is holy. God sometimes doesn’t allow us to see past our nose and for that reason we are forced to walk in faith. If we have the mind of Christ we will be compelled to search and carry out the purpose of the Father. A man’s character and personality is a direct reflection of his commitment to the one whom he serves. What you believe and whom you put your faith in will ultimately shape your conduct. All wrong conduct is a result of all wrong belief. Selfish desires and worldly pleasures must diminish in order to walk in the power of God. I wish to encourage you in the name of our LORD and Savior Jesus Christ to put away the things of this world endure hardship and be the man God has called you to be. In Him we live and move and have our being. In the third chapter of Matthew verse eleven it says, “I indeed baptize you with water (John speaking) unto repentance, but He who is coming after me is mightier than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Ghost and fire.” Having a heart after God means to be like Him, to hate what He hates and love what He loves, ready and willing to receive that which He desires to give to His children. Being baptized in His Spirit means to be totally immersed in Him. Inside and out. Absolutely consumed by Him. In Acts, 1:8 Jesus said, “you shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost has come upon you and you shall be witnesses unto me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” Upon; Strongs:1909 epi-(ep-ee) have charge of We must allow God to have complete charge of our lives, being totally abandoned to Christ. In order to receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost, all that you have to do is ask. God want’s nothing more than to empower you with His Spirit to do His good work. He is faithful. We as children of the Highest God are, for lack of better terms, transmitters or conduits for His power to flow through. Opening up the switch is our responsibility and His desire is to pour His Spirit through us to instruct and teach the saints, and win the lost. There is nothing like listening to a teaching by a man of God that is under the influence of the anointing of the Holy Ghost. In my experiences I have witnessed God absolutely light people up with His fire. Power; Strongs:1411 Dunamis (doo-nam-is); from NT: 1410; force (literally or figuratively); specially, miraculous power (usually by implication, a miracle itself):ability, abundance, meaning, might (-ily, -y, -y deed), (worker of) miracle (-s), power, strength, violence, mighty (wonderful) work. Strongs:1410 Dunamai: (doo-nam-ahee); of uncertain affinity; to be able or possible: be able, can (do, + -not), could, may, might, be possible, be of power. When God empowers an individual it shall be used for His purposes. John 20:21 So Jesus said to them again, Peace to you! As the Father has sent Me, I also send you. John 20:22 And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, Receive the Holy Ghost. In order for God to breathe on you, you must be with Him. The disciples were in breathing distance. They were close. When it says that Jesus breathed on them it actually means that He blew on them with His mouth. Strongs:1720 emphusao (em-foo-sah-o); (to puff) to blow at or on. Oh what a joy it is to have God breathe on you. There is nothing like it in the world! Literally, there is nothing that compares. It’s not natural, it’s supernatural. In 2 Corinthians 5:4 the apostle Paul said, “for we who are in this tent groan, being burdened, not because we want to be unclothed, but further clothed that mortality may be swallowed up by life.” When Jesus breathes on you, mortality, (natural man) is swallowed up and the supernatural takes place. Christ came to give us life and life more abundantly. Empowered by God, “plugged into 440 volts rather than using batteries.” As the Holy Ghost moves and our agendas are transformed into His, God would say, “you are not to touch this.” Man naturally want’s to put a label on the movements of God. It’s pride and self-glorifying which is despicable in eyes of God. Dunamis is where we get the word “DYNAMITE.” When dynamite is used, provided a certified-trained professional uses it, it is utilized for a specific purpose to accomplish the given task. It is beneficial to the one orchestrating the outcome of the given task. Mountains can be moved with dynamite. When God speaks of power He speaks of power beyond our understanding. He moves with such force that anything in His way will cease to exist, as if it never were. Oh but in His grace and infinite love for us He moves with such precision and accuracy and compassion that we can’t help but respond by saying “Oh how great Thou art.” With His purpose in our hearts and minds we become the earthly vessels chosen to do His will. Miracles happen. Lives are changed, never to be the same. That which seems impossible becomes possible by the moving of His power. The Holy Ghost moves as a rushing mighty wind and nothing in His path can stand. Oh the power of God my friends, there is nothing like it in this world. The natural becomes supernatural. I want to encourage you brothers and sisters to abide and obey and become open vessels for the power of the Most High God to flow through you. Your brother in Christ, Bryan Hall Sr.
