A long time ago (Im talking at least 5 years), I got a beachbody workout called Chalean Extreme. I think I did it once and then just went back to more cardio stuff that I was used to. Today, I decided to do it again. Heres what Im going to tell you. 1) I absolutely love it. 2) Im so much stronger than I thought I was. Its a lifting program. There are 12 reps of each exercise that you have to do as slowly and controlled as possible. The point is to reach muscle failure somewhere between the 10th and 12th rep. I wasnt overly conservative with the weight, but I obviously didnt want to burn out after 5 reps. I made it through all 12 reps of every exercise, even going as heavy as 20 pound weights for some (I dont ever lift - my strength training comes from yoga). I couldnt do the last set of 3 push-ups (count of 8 down and up) because my triceps had had it, but wow. Cant wait to get back to it tomorrow and see if I can up the weights and still hit at least 10 reps!
