A lot of my friends are pregnant or just had babies. A lot of them are boys. The law to test at newborn screening for ALD is not yet passed here in Louisiana. Their are 18 families in Louisiana with ALD children. It really isnt that rare. The following is the information you would need to bring to your babies pediatrician should you want to have them tested (the name of the test, the price, the lab, and the link to print out the form the Physician needs to send off the lab work. Its a simple blood test. My doctor only charged me the price of a copay to do my lab work.: PVLCFA TESTING is done thru the Kennedy Krieger Institute Peroxisomal Diseases Laboratory. The charge for this test is $165.00 and must be paid with a credit card as they cannot bill your insurance. Be sure to provide your physician’s name and contact information on the requisition form as results will not be given or sent directly to the patient.
