A magnitude 7.8 earthquake occurred at 08:15am Fiji time this morning over the eastern Solomon Islands about 300km southeast of Honiara near the northern islands of Vanuatu. The earthquake was downgraded again to 7.6. Note this earthquake has been down-graded from an initial magnitude of 8.3. All warnings and alerts have been cancelled. There was a tsunami watch in force for Fiji initially. however it was discontinued after the revision of the magnitude.
