A male Pin-tailed Whydah (860) (Koningrooibekkie / Koningweduweetjie) photographed in front of At Whale-Phin Guest House while courting. He will make this his territory and will dominate the feeding tray by chasing away all seed eaters. He will collect a harem of 3-4 females who will lay their eggs in other birds, like the Common Waxbills, nests. This is his summer colour, during winter he looks like the female.
