A mammoth crowd doesnt equals a vote casted. A corrupt electoral commission controlled by the president or an inept judiciary also controlled by the same doesnt equal a democratic process but a state and people under siege. Rallies are an expression of freedom of speech and association. Millions can attend a rally, some out of pure curiosity, some coming to get information to offer them choices, others come to get hand outs of money and/or food, others are delegated as spies, while others may be active participants and contributors to the political process. A mammoth crowd may be perceived as an indication of huge popularity. This is a huge mistake. A huge crowd must never be construed for a vote casted. Its only when they cast their vote you may have an indication of voluntary participation in the political process. Voluntary participation must be differentiated from coerced participation through oathing which is complete control of the individuals mindset. The jury is out on democratic processes in Kenya with the appointment of the AGs wife as a High Court judge and this has officially and completely corrupted the judicial process and represents a conflict of interest.
