A man and a woman have been arrested and charged after a stolen car crashed into a brick wall at Enfield following a police pursuit this morning. About 2am, Sunday 30 November 2014, police were patrolling Lyndhurst Street at Glebe when they attempted to stop a stolen silver Audi A4. The driver allegedly accelerated away from police and a pursuit was initiated. The Audi was followed to Stanmore where police terminated the pursuit after losing sight of the car. A short time later the Audi was seen in Corunna Lane and allegedly reversed into the police car before driving off. A second pursuit was initiated with the Audi being followed along Parramatta Road to Liverpool Road at Enfield where it crashed into the brick wall of a house. A man ran off while a 25-year-old woman, who was a passenger in the car, was arrested at the scene. Police conducted a search of the area and found the 25-year-old man allegedly hiding in the backyard of a house on Beaumaris Street, Enfield. He was taken to Burwood Police Station before being taken to Concord Hospital for blood and urine tests. The man, from Redfern, was later charged with police pursuit-not stop-drive dangerously (Skye’s Law) and take and drive conveyance without owners consent. He was refused bail and is expected to appear in Parramatta Bail Court today (Sunday 30 November 2014). The woman, from La Perouse, was taken to Bankstown Hospital for treatment of chest injuries. She will be issued with a court attendance notice for being carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner and will appear in Balmain Local Court on Wednesday 14 January 2015.
