A man died today. Not a famous man or even well known in this fast paced world. But this man had such a profound impact on my life I felt the need to tell everyone that he existed. He loved unconditionally and was loved unconditionally in return. He never thought much of himself, almost to a fault, but those around him new his worth. A smart, strong and compassionate man. A man of dignity, pride and his word. His soft touch was protective and warming, his firm hand gave strength and guidance. He dug himself a place in this world and held steady with vigor and intensity. He was our rock and our immoveable object, our foundation for our future. One true constant that we could always depend on. He could carefully pick us up when we fell and firmly light a fire to keep our ass moving. I will always love this man, he will be missed and remembered everyday. Thank you for your time, your advice, your courage, and your love. You are still my rock and I will continue forever with you in my heart. I love you Grandpa. (and I will tell everyone the rum cake story)
