A man remains in intensive care with a fractured neck and head injuries after allegedly being punched to the ground during a dispute over a minor crash at Strathfield overnight. Police believe the 73-year-old man was with his wife in his silver Mazda XRC when a white sedan reversed into the back of his car while on The Boulevarde about 5.10pm (Monday 23 June 2014). Witnesses told police when the owner endeavoured to speak with the female driver, a man – who was a passenger in the sedan – got out and became aggressive. An argument ensued during which the female driver drove away. Police have been told the older man was then punched to the ground before the passenger also left the scene, last seen running west along Liverpool Road. NSW Ambulance Paramedics treated the man on site before taking him to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital. Police have now been told the man sustained a fractured neck and suspected bleeding on the brain. Police from Flemington Local Area Command are seeking public assistance and wish to speak with two people they believe can assist with this investigation. The man is described only as being of Caucasian appearance, aged about 30, with a slim to medium build and about 180cm tall. A woman is described only as being of Caucasian appearance. Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Auburn Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
