A member asked me a loaded question this morning... and I shared my thoughts on juicing so as to set the right expectation... I though i should also re-produce here for the benefits of all members. The key words here is right expectation. The question was... How much weight have I lost since I started replacing my morning breakfast with juices... My respond to him below in verbatim (with minor editing and spelling correction)... LOL... Loaded question... :-) But allow me to share a little background 1st, and first thing first, I am not much of a breakfast person and ALL I MUST have in the morning is coffee... :-) Ive started with buying and eating organic food, juicing in its older form, using blender and juicer, making enzyme and making healthy smoothies as far back as 7 years ago. The reason I was doing that was to increase intake of all the rich nutrients which we had been missing out in our normal diet. It was NEVER meant to be meal replacements or for loosing weight! The main reason for that (not being a meal replacement), was the process of making those healthy stuff is quite time consuming in many ways and its difficult to work into my busy routine! I will at my best ability prepare them and attempt to be as regular as I can, but the best I could manage was perhaps 2 times a week consistently and often not at the best of time, i.e. afternoon or evening (consuming them with or after meals)! (There are) Many challenges inherent in the various process as well, example, introduction of heat to the process, especially blending, over aging especially in enzyme, wet pulps and inability to juice vegetable properly especially in the normal centrifugal juicer! So yes, in short I am not so driven to continue with all this chores. Health wise, I have family background of hypertension, diabetic and cancer. My dad passed away from cancer and had been on plenty of medication to treat and to manage his health problems. (and i am at high risk as well and diagnosed with borderline hypertension) My wife is a cancer survivor and this month mark the 2 years she had been freed of the dreaded disease! Thank god. I was introduce to Kuvings slow juicer late last year by a close friend and me being me took a while to conduct background research on the product and its processes! From juicing perspective, I was never in doubt. But what impresses me and (helps) make the final decision to buy and use it daily is the ease of maintenance and the amount of juice produce without much wastage. I also found that I can work it into my daily schedule as well. Thus able to maintain momentum in (my) daily consistent production and consumption of healthy fruits and vegetables. I bought my Kuvings in March (2014) and since then, through trial and error had built up consistency in my daily habit of juicing and consumption of healthy nutrients... It had become my morning breakfast before my coffee. There are even days when I have extra juice, it replaced my lunch and very so often after a good juice in the morning, I dont hanker for food in between meals and I dont feel extremely hungry at lunch and quite often pushes my lunch to about 2-3pm. And when I am home for dinner, I am (usually) still full from late lunch and that allow me to skip rice and just nibble on whatever was served for dinner. This process help me from yearning for food later! I now juice 5-6 mornings a week and take off from juicing no more than 2 days. Even then, there is always one or two bottles of juice of not more than 2 days old in the fridge for me to consume! The funny thing is that when there are days when I am traveling, and did not juice for many days, I kinda start yearning for my juice again... A juice junky? :-) (Answering to the loaded question, how much weight have i lost?) I started the year at 96kg and as at yesterday, when I weigh myself at the hospital, I was at 85.56kg! My waist is also slimmer, as I can feel my pants dropping lately and my belt needs to be tighten 1 to 2 notch! :-) (Beside loosing weight, Ive dropped both my medication for hypertension and cholesterol control. My wife is also a lot healthier, loosing some weight as well as improving overall health.) So, technically I DID NOT REPLACE my breakfast, I actually INCLUDE breakfast in my daily meals now... Its the by the way effect of healthy dose of juices that slowly help me change my eating habit. I still love my food and I still eat what I love to eat. Just that now indirectly, my portions could be smaller, or my guts, liver and kidney are now healthier and process the excesses better! This is juicing for health concept which I can lived with and enjoy it. (Well, please note that all of us are different in many ways, example, health, allergies, food preferences, life style, etc. - As such what works for me does not necessary work for others or fit their life style, etc.) :-) (I am very thankful that my close friend introduces me to Kuvings Slow Juicer - I think that helps in the way I am eating and mine and my wifes health today. You know who you are my friend... Thank You!)
