A member has a question. Peace-Deb I am writing in because I have been following all posts and reading a lot of the comments myself to seek answers - Im not sure where to turn on this one as Im technically the only one who has been officially diagnosed ( my mom has not been tested but has the same skin similarities as I but will not go in ) Im not sure where to turn for help but my question is simply - can discoid lupus turn into SLE?? I had a lot Of tests ran and it turns out after giving birth to my first child I set my lupus in full swing to effect other parts of my body now I no longer have it on my face but back of arms as well - I always had the butterfly rash lightly on my cheeks and embraced it as what made me different as my mother has the same but was told in May to take the plaquinil (? Sp) med and have still not even gotten it filled not have I been back to the rheumatologist ! I know that sounds horrible but was also told I have had this my whole life but just with havin a baby put things in full force ? Could that be accurate ? Could having a baby really put this over the edge ? Also they cant accurately tell me whether I ONLY have the discoid kind because they ran several biopsies and blood work and they told me my blood work showed some kind of count which could be systemic but when they reran it showed on the normal non systemic counts !? Im 30 years old and I know I should be up to date on what these are called but I really havent spoke formally to the rheumatologist or the dermatologists that done my tests in such a long time ? Im kinda scared but almost at a non concern esp if it IS only discoid ? They told me 2 years ago I had it - any thoughts input or criticism even is accepted since I know as a mother wife and person with lupus I havent giving much thought till now ? Thank you so much !
