A moment reflecting upon history. In the 1970s, when the Communists in Afghan began the process of overthrowing the country, the Afghan gov. decided to make an agreement with Egypt (Home of the MB) for military support if the Communists overthrew the country. What that meant was, a call for Jihad from the Mujahideen (Afghan), if necessary. So, when the commies invaded (1979), the call for Jihad was on. America had no say in this, as the Mujahideen has been actively transnational since the earlier 1800s. Perhaps the Reagan Doctrine called for countering the Soviets using radicals, however, no directives for funding any group such as AQ. AQ decided their own fate at that time, not America. Aside.....AQ is an old KGB tactic of terrorism, just like they did with creating the PLO and funding the Cuban Revolutionaries and so on. ********What made things even worse, is that when the Russian/Afghan War was over, 100,000+radical jihadists returned to their countries, etc... and that generation of Muslim radicals was the generation effected by the KGBs [Operation SIG Zionist Governments] which was their KGB plot to disperse Hitlers mein kampf translated to Arabic in mainly Muslim areas, for the sole purpose of foaming up Islamist terrorism against Israel and the USA, specifically. This one KGB Operation (SIG) is what has fueled the fire of Muslim Nazism. And, Putins FSB and KVR know all about it.
