A moment to remember from college: My music professor from freshman year wrote a section of our final exam that required us to part-write a four-part harmony from scratch with a full analysis of the music in a major key and a minor key. I decided to end my minor harmony with a Picardy cadence. When my professor skimmed over my exam and saw what I did, he said, So, do you think youre some kind of smart guy? Using a Picardy third in your final examination? Thats cute...Clever, but primarily cute. I smiled, and he dismissed me.
