A must-attend exhibition to whoever happens to be in Beirut! Lebanon is home to an estimated 250,000 migrant domestic workers (in an overall workforce of around 1.45 million). Due to a number of factors – such as socio-economic status; doing what is perceived as dirty work; being perceived as foreign / outsiders / ‘others’; and gender-related vulnerabilities – these individuals frequently face unchallenged racism and racialization in Lebanon. And because of these demographics, classism is usually tied to negative stereotyping when discussing these social groups and has become the sole excuse for race based discrimination.
