A new message from our inbox: We are a Long Day Care and have roughly 20 kids attending Kindy that come to our service one full day a week (the day they are not in Kindy) and possibly one afternoon for approximately 2 hours. Would you provide personal portfolios for these children even though they will receive similar from school? If so, would you complete assessment of learning for them, as well? Again, the school will be assessing their learning through their own means such as reports to parents. We have over 55 kids enrolled in the big kids room and our 3 full time staff are struggling to always complete documentation for them each month as they are only there for a maximum of 4-6 days in the month. Plus if they are absent for any days over the month it again can prove very hard to gather information and learning that is meaningful and not just writing it for the good of having some documentation. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
