A new project is using log books from ships that traversed the ocean from 1882-1903 to improve how weather is forecast today. The Weather Detective project is calling for citizen scientists to help read the handwriting in the log books collected by 19th century Queensland meteorologist Clement Wragge. Scientists say the information will assist todays weather forecasting, improve the understanding of climate change and re-analyse serious past weather events.
