A nice little game of tug with big BIG baby Zuul! Whats going on here? - one big pup + one firehose tug with handles = fun + control (excitement alternating with obedience exercises, out/drop it and down) - puppy leash (without the clip) looped on one of the tug handles to encourage his return back to me after a win - different tug presentations (left/right/front, high/low) while keeping the tug relatively steady and perpendicular to the dog, so he can get a clear view and strike it in the middle (instead of my hands :) ); also moving the tug slightly backwards as hes coming towards it, to encourage a nice leap forward, tehee :) - a bunch of marking (the word yes) - marking his release from down (allowing him to go for the tug), marking the enthusiastic thrashes (when he wins the tug), and marking his returns - some moving backwards to encourage his returns - asking him to drop it (out) and down after outing, then rewarding with another tug game, 1-2 seconds after he outs/downs... - a bit of handler clumsiness; Zuul is a little bigger than my usual tugging partners, lets blame it on that ;) Playing tug can be a great way to expand energy, have fun and bond with your dog, all while rehearsing various obedience commands (including the out of a high value object!) with the pup in a relatively high state of excitement :)
