A number of lawyers have resigned from the Canadian Bar Association #CBA and, on October 9, attended a protest denouncing the CBAs decision to intervene in the #Ecuador v. #Chevron case. In 2011, 30,000 indigenous Ecuadorian plaintiffs received a judgment of $9.5 billion against Chevron in an Ecuadorian court for the massive contamination the corporation left behind there. Since then, Chevron has taken all its assets out of the country and has spent more than $400 million a year fighting that judgment.
