A number of proteins in the blood could predict the transition between mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia, according to research published today (Tuesday 8 July 2014). Using blood samples from over 1,000 people and MRI scans from 473 people, researchers at Kings College London have identified 16 proteins which were implicated in the development of the Alzheimers disease and could be used as markers for dementia even before full symptoms develop.
