A parent asks our group: I putting this out there to get an idea of what other parents thought. I would like to bring a Sensory Gym to my community for the children with SPD and Autism who need a place to go (especially these long cold winters indoors), and use equipment they otherwise couldnt afford to have in their home. * Here are my concerns... Im not looking to get rich, but I need income to pay the bills on the space, have insurance and keep equipment nice... how would you charge for a place like this... hourly, daily, weekly, monthly? Im kind of lost on that one. * My goal is for this to be a safe place for families to bring their children, and not be stared at because their kid is crazy (something we all understand here), so do I stay open 10 hours and let it be come as you can, or do I set up hour long groups (autism group, spd group, etc) where parents can mingle, but stay close to their children. I do not want to have a family of average children coming in to abuse the equipment and ruin it for the kids who need it? Is there any law stopping me from excluding general public that dont have a child with SPD needs? Id actually like to keep the place relatively low occupied, and a 1 on 1 ratio of parent and child, Id like to see the parent participating in the activities with their children * Lastly, If you had a place like this in your area, what would be one thing theyd have to have that would keep you coming back?
