A partial victory in the battle to Save Community Based Mental - TopicsExpress

A partial victory in the battle to Save Community Based Mental Health Programs. I still believe that VCH should include these programs in CORE Service delivery, they can find the money in the 118 Raises that the Provincial Health Authority CEO gave to its Managers as reported by the Media last week. --- Art Studio Announcement Thank you again for your feedback regarding our decision around the Art Studio, and, further to my previous response, I would like to update you on a recent positive development. I am very pleased to advise you that Vancouver Coastal Health has secured short-term funding from a private donor that will allow The Art Studios to remain open, and at its current location, until at least March 31, 2014. As you know, the program was expected to close in August as a result of a funding review by VCH. However, behind the scenes we were able to identify an external donor who was interested in supporting the program. The donor wishes to remain anonymous. This short-term funding will provide you and other stakeholders of the Art Studios with additional time to source funding alternatives and plan for the facility’s future. Unfortunately, VCH can no longer provide financial resources for this program, but we will continue to support any donor or group that wishes to continue its operations in the long term. If the passion for the Art Studios that so many of you have demonstrated in recent weeks is any indication, keeping the program alive through creative solutions and new partnerships is certainly achievable. I look forward to continuing to work with you to meet that goal. Yours sincerely, Andrew MacFarlane Director, Mental Health & Addiction - Urban
