A passion for the science of movement led Kate towards a Bachelor - TopicsExpress

A passion for the science of movement led Kate towards a Bachelor of Kinesiology, Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy and beginning in 1996, a yoga practice. Yoga was a breath of fresh air after the cumulative effects of studying, outdoor pursuits and years of competitive sport. The practice seemed reminiscent of the simple happiness experienced as a child, while hanging upside-down by the knees from the monkey bars. Kate completed her teacher training with the Yoga College of Canada and started teaching yoga at the Alberta Health Services Chronic Pain Centre in 2012. A practicing physiotherapist since 2000, Kate holds a license in Alberta and Hawaii. Her professional experience includes both the local private and public health sectors. International experience includes the Hawaii Board of Education, teaching at University of Gondar in Ethiopia and Handicap International in Port Au Prince, Haiti. She also loves to travel for the sheer pleasure of it and does not leave home without a mat. When teaching, Kate encourages students to approach yoga with a healthy attitude, applying principles of optimal alignment & movement, to help create ease. ‘Movement that feels good becomes a joy in itself.’
