A photo tutorial start to finish of a retaining wall in West Bend. As you can see, the hideous railroad timber wall (soil contaminating) had been removed and properly disposed of before the construction of a new segmental retaining wall and staircase to the upper planting bed. Utilizing a geo-grid material (black, fence like material - NOT fencing though) behind the wall properly holds this structure as one unit with the soil behind it. Retaining walls built improperly will allow the static forces of the soil behind it to eventually push that wall forward and cause it to fail, possibly hurting, or killing someone. Be assured, our walls are built properly. Our bid may be higher, but it is done correct and safe! Be sure you ask these questions before choosing a contractor. As another source for information, call a local material supplier to get an unbiased opinion as to the right and wrong procedures. Take the time to educate yourself a little bit so that an educated choice can be made when hiring a contractor.
