A picture poem to a child might go like this... You are finite you are flawed you’re not owed anything life stings, growth is painful A thorn keeps hurting until you take it out no wound heals without time Life gives you signs sometimes you’ll have to: Give Way, Stop, Look, Walk Slow Down for Roadworks Watch for low bridges you might have to pull your head in a No Through Road is just that One Way streets won’t always go your way ‘The Secret’ of literal abundance is capitalism in other clothes better you have enough defeat to make you humble I wish for you— speed humps to shake you mistakes to break you to make you the best that you can be. I wish you to know pain so that all of suffering mankind will become your brothers so your eyes will never turn away I wish you to know joy in the silky whispers of a lover in the stillness of silent surrender to other amid the noise of chaos. As for me— I’m not an ATM I didn’t get you at The Reject Shop I am finite, I am flawed - I will stuff up Life will send you soft words in lilting lyric and gossamer lies know the truth then live it.
