A plea from City College faculty, staff and students: As you - TopicsExpress

A plea from City College faculty, staff and students: As you know, City College is going through a difficult time right now. But despite the impression you may get from recent media coverage, the college is OPEN and ACCREDITED. However, all the negative publicity is scarring students away from the college, which has caused a dramatic drop in student enrollment and could affect state funding in Fall 2013. In fact, enrollment in journalism is shockingly low compared to previous semesters. So at this time I am appealing to prospective students interested in learning journalism to sign up for a course before August 14 -- the first day of instruction -- in order to avoid the cancellation of a course and the possible dismissal of a part-time faculty. Although we believe the college will eventually overcome the current accreditation challenges, please alert others that City College is still a reputable, accredited institution of higher learning with an incredible student success rate. Encourage your friends and relatives to enroll NOW -- log onto the link below -- for all information about Fall 2013 courses. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Juan Gonzales, Jour. Dept. chair, as soon as possible at either 415-239-3446 or 415-517-4426. Again, if you were thinking about waiting until Spring 2014 to take a journalism course, please reconsider. The Journalism Department needs your support NOW. Thanx. – Tom Graham
