A poem written by a daughter for her father The first time you laid eyes on me Your face glowed with unexplainable glee With tears in your eyes Your face broke with a heavenly smile When softly you whispered this angel is mine Your love was unconditional The way you cared for me was exceptional You’ve always felt so proud As you tell everyone that I’m your first child You sheltered me from harm You were always there when I needed a helping hand Whenever I went astray You were there to guide my way You laughed with me so heartily Whenever I was happy And in times when I felt gloom Your arms around me were my protection You taught me everything I know I am who I am because of you I will always carry you in my heart My father, my first love Years have past since the day you left Yet up to now I feel an emptiness I miss your laughter, I miss your smile I miss your voice and beautiful songs I also specially miss The way you dance around like a clown You’re now so far away Up in heaven where now you stay And on this very special day I kneel down and pray To whisper I love you #soniya
