A posthumous Birthday shout out to the late, great Mr. David Mills, DC area native, Pulitzer Prize nominee, Emmy award winning television writer, P-Funk historian, and worlds first and foremost Undercover Black Social Critic. Sadly, I never got the chance to meet him face-to-face before he passed, but we communicated several times through email, this Facebook thing, and his website, undercoverblackman, where I was one of the more frequent troublemakers. Im actually the one who turned him on to this brilliant piece of cinematic art (which features a character named Breakfast), directed by the son of former NAACP president Kweisi Mfume, and he gave me virtual dap in one of his posts. The day he died, I wrote my own special eulogy of sorts on his Facebook page. One of his colleagues, Rafael Alvarez, happened to read it and reached out to me...and Ive been taking his Orioles-loving shit ever since! So thanks, Dave. For those that knew you well, and for those (like myself) who only knew you fleetingly, we miss you, and we love you. RIP. Breakfast, you come with me!
