A precious friend of mine, like me, went uninsured for many, many years. For her family, like mine, insurance was simply unavailable or out of financial reach. She, like me, became insured for the first time this month. She, like me, went in to visit a doctor today to have some things checked out that have felt wrong for a while. Tonight they put two stents in her heart because the blockage was nearly complete in two of her arteries. Yes, the HEART ATTACK THAT WAS AVOIDED would have been enormous. She is younger than me. I am so glad that she was able to have this life-saving procedure done. This is not a political statement, it’s an emotional one.
