A private man wrote this about the ongoing face off between doctors and the government ,To the doctors who gave the analogy of an air hostess with 30 years experience and a captain of a plane with 5 years experience,id say its disheartening that u didnt do well in elementary philosophy and logic bcos ur analogy is illogical.Tell me,were u trained on how to become a CMD while in medical school?Is there any course or programme for becoming a CMD in the curriculum of medical students?Is the position of the CMD no longer an administrative position?As a matter of fact the health sector has several professionals who can independently serve as CMD at their various capacity. Talking about hazard allowance,u sounded as though doctors are the only group among health workers that are exposed to hazard in the hospital environment.Let me remind u about the ward maids who clean up the mess in wards in various hospitals(these includes blood spills,vomits,urine,sputum,stool, and other body fluids that are highly contagious.What about the nurses who are constantly working with these mess on daily bases?What about the radiographers and the imaging scientists who are exposed to ionizing radiation on a daily basis?What about the medical Laboratory scientists who analyse pathogenic and contagious samples, and are always at the risk of corrosive and carcinogenic chemicals and aerosol from mycobacterium tuberculosis on a daily basis ,just to say a few.The earlier doctors get reasonable and accept the fact that other health professionals are independent in their respective specialties the better.I advice that doctors should put down their pride and ego and work with other health professionals as a team for a better health care system in Nigeria.Can u beat that.
