A problem with many religiously bigoted people is that they read the Bible as if it were a series of disconnected sayings (just like their own religious book). NO! The Bible is orderly and systematic in its presentation of God-given truths. There was no chapter and verse division in the original manuscripts of the Bible, so it will be insincere and unrealistic to quote a verse of the Bible without reference to the verses before and after it. Every word in the Bible has its intended meaning and thus we cannot impose contemporary definitions on ancient words. Each text has its historical background, geography, and linguistic analysis. Therefore, it is unfair to just take a word or even a verse and use it for a doctrine. It is twisting the scriptures and God will judge that. An example of this is Luke 19:27 which says: But those enemies of mine who did not want me to be king over them - bring them here and kill them in front of me. This verse is part of Jesus parable which started in verse 11 but some people would take it literally and conclude that Jesus killed people (just like Muhammad did)! I pose the following questions to those who isolate this verse from the parable: 1. Who did Jesus become king over? 2. Who made Jesus king and when? 2. Who are the enemies he killed? 3. How did the Roman authorities react to this murder? Your answers must be with references or they are considered formulated. Thanks. I love you all! N. B.: Never you change the topic of discussion!
