A proposed amendment in the Kerala Luxuries Act 1976 will affect most adversely all those conducting marriages of their dear ones in Kerala as cess will be charged at 3% of the total expenditure incurred for marriage conducted in Hotels or Auditorium having seating capacity of 500 or more . This provision is going to hit hard as every person conducting marriage will become assesse before the officer and he is legally bound to obtain tax payment certificate before booking the Hotel or Auditorium. At the time of conducting marriage this is going to be a great headache and additional financial burden and also there are possibilities the officer will find the estimate expenditure not acceptable to him there by making further trouble. Politicians did not discuss this very important amendment in the KERALA Assembly as the entire time is wasted for discussing personal allegations. Hope friends in the social media will take up this issue to save every family of this state from this harsh provison
