A question! (Possibly related to an upcoming article ^_^) (and yes I am back online with puter!) In the various countries Ive lived in or been to, I have never encountered a soup thats so popular in Japan that for a lot of people, soup = this soup. Its a smooth, thick sweet corn soup or potage, usually thickened with a roux (sometimes with pureed boiled potatoes). You either use canned creamed corn or puree whole (sweet) corn kernels to make it. I know there are different kinds of soup that use corn (eg corn chowder in the US), but none are quite the same as the corn cream soup I grew up with. So the question is: have you ever encountered a smooth corn soup like this where you live (outside of Japan or from a Japanese grocery store)? My recipe is linked below.
