A question for the photographer friends of mine here, I have been - TopicsExpress

A question for the photographer friends of mine here, I have been using Picasa to organize my photos on a Mac. Recently, I upgraded my camera from a 7 year old Nikon DSLR to a Panasonic DMC-GX7. I always shoot in RAW (so I can have flexibility if I edit) and with the Nikon Picasa had no problem with the RAW files but with the Panasonic files it cant render them the right way. It is a documented problem and the only solution I have found is to convert the files to Adobe .dng files. I like Picasa because it can group shots by events or people using facial recognition. I dont like iPhoto because it hides the files in a directory other programs dont have access to. I have a trial of Adobe Lightroom and I like it so far but it is pricey. I know Apple Aperture is another option, any opinions?
