A quote from Pete Muller, one of the Magnum Emergency Fund awardees....I am posting it because I am like a wild bronco these days, wanting to buck the system, wanting to make my own photographs in the way that they mean something outside traditional photojournalism. I do not call myself a photojournalist, I am a documentary photographer and I can document anything, both inside and outside my imagination. This business has changed, we must change with it but sometimes the rules are slow to change with us: “These kinds of grants are essential in the creative process as they allow photographers to make the kinds of pictures that he or she feels best suit the experience.
