A reader has this issue, can anyone offer any advice? : I love baking & decorating cakes up to a professional standard, but only as a hobby for myself, when I want to, & only if I want to. For a number of reasons I dont want to do it for people for money or even as a favour to family & friends, unless I *very* occasionally may want to give someone a special surprise present from me out of my own choice. Right now I feel like I have to hide my talents & creations as friends & family are always looking for cake makers to order from & will see this as an opportunity to get cakes from me - either at full price, discounted, or free. I even want to go on an expensive course for my own enjoyment, but I feel like id have to go secretly so that people dont see this as license to expect me to make cakes for them, or even atleast make parts for them, such as fondant roses saying its not a whole cake. I dont feel anyone would understand this & would be offended & think I was very odd if I said no to making a cake for them for money or a favour/present. I feel quite down about this as I want to enjoy my hobby freely.
