A reader writes: Allaya, it seems that women bear the brunt of all the Passover prep. Are there any special considerations for men? You beat me to the punch! The answer is an emphatic yes. Whereas women are on a higher spiritual plane, men must constantly wrestle with their physicality. Luckily, our sages have addressed these issues, so we neednt guess and make the wrong decision. Chametz Hayyim states that men must castrate themselves every year, since their man bits might technically be considered Kitniyot. The truly pious will grow them back after eight days. Later on in life, he became more lenient on this issue and declared that man bits may simply be sold with hametz before the holiday. Rambat agrees that man bits may be considered Kitniyot, but states that Ashkenazim may keep them in the home, provided they arent consumed during Passover. They must also be clearly marked with tags labeling them as Kitniyot, and wear loin cloths for the duration of Passover, so as to remind us of Egypt and the loins of affliction. Abarbarella says that Sephardim may both keep and consume man bits over Pesach, but they should be kept in an ice bucket for the duration of the holiday to prevent accidental leavening. Its never a wasted day if you ask a good question! #passovercrazy
