A revert student in one of my classes once told us the amazing story of her mother’s conversion to Islam. Her mother was an 80+ year old woman who had lived her entire life as a non-Muslim. Her daughter was, Alhamdulillah, guided to Islam and became a Muslim. After some time, her mother told her she also wanted to become a Muslim, and so she embraced Islam. Only TWO WEEKS after becoming a Muslim, the mother passes away, RahimahAllah. But the story doesn’t end there: the mothers name was Alisha, and subhanAllah the person who engraved her tombstone made a spelling mistake and wrote Aisha instead. Allahu Akbar! I find this story so incredibly amazing. Not only did this woman practically die in the state of a new born, with her whole life worth of sins forgiven, but she was placed to rest in her grave under the name of one of the most beloved women to the Prophet and one of the greatest scholars in Islamic history.
