A school system THE HIM & I donate our time to has engaged in a punitive process that has systematically dismissed many male students, all African-American. Rather than function as a resource, this school serves as a penal system. No one sought aid from internal options, including THE HIM or I. Referrals to expensive behavioral centers were made. Personally, I know these boys were ineligible and their mothers couldnt afford it. For the past few weeks, single mothers have come to THE HIM for aid for their sons outside of school. When THE HIM attempts to create programming and to teach manhood essentials, people get silent and hide their wallets. Meanwhile, our sons, nephews and brothers get kicked out of school without options. Whose child will be next? #academics #manhood #son #leadership #parent #love #education #prison
