A selection of our massive archive of Chaakab Paaxil festival recordings from 2008 to 2013 will finally be mastered and released in a multiple CD + DVD boxset sometime in 2015-2016. This video was recorded and edited by Freddy Gorocica and Descarga Buró Creativo, and the music, taken from the festival sets, was recorded by Sergio Laite. Chaakab Paaxil: Festival de Improvisación Libre, Free Jazz y Noise –which means free song or free music, in Yucatec Mayan– is held annually in Mérida, México. Its six consecutive editions have featured Burkhard Stangl, Paal Nilssen-Love, Sean Meehan, nmperign (Bhob Rainey + Greg Kelley), Jason Lescalleet, Robert Piotrowicz, Alan Courtis, Bonnie Jones, Dennis González Yells at Eels, Elliott Levin, John Blum, Blaise Siwula, Chris Cogburn, and Reed Evan Rosenberg, among many other international artists, as well as the majority of the most remarkable Mexican improvisers, such as Angélica Castelló, Remi Álvarez, German Bringas, Mario de Vega, Rogelio Sosa, Juanjose Rivas, Manrico Montero, Armando Martin, Juan Garcia, Maria Lipkau, Marcos Miranda, Alexander Bruck, Fernando Vigueras, Carmina Escobar, Wilfrido Terrazas, Omar Tamez, Juan Castañón, Aarón Cruz, Itzam Cano, Arturo Báez, Carlos Maldonado, Gustavo Nandayapa, Darío Bernal-Villegas, Gabriel Lauber, and Milo Tamez, noise bands like Stalaktos and Amniosis, as well as foreign improvisers based in México like Hernán Hecht, Blair Latham and Misha Marks. facebook/pages/Chaakab-Paaxil-Festival-de-Improvisación-Libre-Free-Jazz-y-Noise/103342719710296
