A short note to Senator Akinyeluwe : Sir, It is the news that you wept before some women in Ondo State on your regrets for voting againgst the 18 years age limit during the recent voting at the senate chamber. I felt that you have thrown away a gold medal inside a latrine after you stood in honour to win it. The import of your vote was not that every girl must marry at the age of 14 or thereof but that a girl can marry from that age to the age of 100 years. The tenets of the international criminal law as exemplified by the leading international community and major Church groups provides for the minimum of 14 years age limit and above. What you voted for was that a girl of 17 years can marry a man and continue with her programmes of life. You did not want a law in place but you wanted the girl and her parents to use their good conscience and develop. Nobody convinced you on the punishment for girls who goes into ungoldly child bearing before the age of 18. You were not also convinced of the legality of children born during courtships before the girl attain the age of 18. Your tears were so golden to be wasted because you stood by the rule of law. You only wanted greater involvement in orientation rather than satanic laws since you have been seeing thousands of muslim girls attaining good education and empowerment including cabinate Ministers. You believed that every girl at any age should have good freedom. What you did not envisage is that some greedy politicians and ungodly public will attempt to dissuade you to tow the wrong line. I dont know what has recently come over Ondo state that produced the Omoborios, the Ajasins and the Fawehinmis. Fisrt it was Gov. Mimiko who decided to block his eyes in the face of glaring reality during the last election of the Nigerian Governors Forum. Then this decision of the yours which to me goes against common legal knwoledge. I think there is need for your humble self be independent in your decision because if you dance to the gallery you may not stand well before your lord.
