A small but growing gator has become a resident of our dock area. - TopicsExpress

A small but growing gator has become a resident of our dock area. The crane chick I photographed when it was a day old has survived; looks like an adolescent. A pair of whistling ducks are regular visitors to our back yard. This morning a shaggy great blue heron stalked up to the back porch and stared at me as I finished my coffee. Marsh mallows are abloom. They are a variety of hibiscus, or so I think. Their stalks rise up to seven feet or more. The rain gods still have their backs to me. My son Frank told me recently of a man who was struck by a lightening bolt that traveled horizontally a couple of miles to reach him. That gives me pause. In the day I liked to blaspheme in the student union at the U of AR and call for lightening to strike me. Needless to say not many would sit there with me.
