A small fire in Lone Pine Canyon east of Wrightwood broke out Thursday afternoon and is being fought using aircraft due to the rugged and steep terrain of the area, San Bernardino County Fire Department spokesman Jay Hausman said. The fire had burned only about a half acre when initial reports came in at 12:37 p.m., but the steep terrain and winds are cause for concern, Hausman said. The California Highway Patrol is controlling traffic in the area of Lone Pine Canyon Road and Mojave Scenic Drive, according to CHP incident logs. —By Rebecca Howes, Staff Writer
