A song about growing up. Colors Life happens around us, Changing it’s colors so constantly, My neighbor outlived her daughter, That’s not the way it’s supposed to be, My friends and I used to play baseball, At the park just down the street, Now we’re all in college with day jobs, None of us got to the major leagues. The father I used to look up to, Now shakes my hand and looks up to me, My sister resides in apartments in Brooklyn, Soon she’ll have a family, Of her own, just like my mother has prayed for, Each night as she goes to sleep, After working from 9-5 in the office, Since 1983. The first time I had my heart broken, Is known as the summer of 2014, She told she loved me and slept in my bed, Kissed me in front of my family, Like a naive young boy, I believed every phrase, She would spit so sarcastically, But I’ve realized nothing’s permanent, Sometimes love is just temporary, Life happens around us, Changing it’s colors so constantly, My dog used to be just a puppy, Now he’s got gray hair wrapped around his cheeks, I used to believe that time didn’t exist, 10 years old for the rest of my life, But I’ve come to terms with the progress, Now I know everything will be alright.
