A special meeting of BESE has been called for Monday May 12 at 1pm to consider amendments to the Minimum Foundations Program (MFP), the funding formula for K-12 public schools, to send back over to the legislature. The Senate Ed committee approved a motion without opposition to reject the MFP earlier in the legislative session. The meeting will be held at the Claiborne building and none of the proposed amendments are included on the posting. It is likely an attempt to satisfy the faction that doesnt want to include the automatic growth factor in the MFP which has allowed for automatic 2.75% increase in a year in which an MFP has failed to pass the legislature. Happy to answer questions if yall have any.
