Yesterday, my iPod was set to shuffle as I frantically put up holiday decorations and wrapped Cristmas prezzies. Joe Cockers cover of The Beatles song With a Little Help from My Friends played, and for a moment my mind wandered back in time to precious memories with you... Sleepovers. Fake IDs. Paulas cottage. Parkside football parties & after-proms. Lunch uptown. Bush parties. Us days. Shopping. Spas. Hours of conversation. Funerals for beloved friends who left us far too soon... Road trips. University life. Drinking champagne. Crying over fights with parents, boys, each other. Working oart-time at Tim Hortons, Kettle Creek Inn, Upper Deck and invariably spending most of my paycheck on clothes, music and weekends at The Reef. Fake press-on nails that always fell off by 10PM. Loads of shenanigans & tom foolery. Peach schnapps & tequila shots (how did I ever drink that shit?) Concerts. Sunday Fundays in Toronto. Weddings. Births. Cosmos. More Champagne. Hours of time spent on the telephone line. Laughing... Lots of laughter and always love. Today, Joe Cocker passed away at age 70. Im reminded how quickly time passes and what truly matters most this holiday season and all year long: L O V E ❤ So, please.
