A story that will be told for years to come is how a man of Murtala Nyakos credentials, presented with a platter of gold opportunity to write his name in gold in the history of Adamawa chose to do so in graphite. A unique predicament is that regarding the appointment of a Chief Judge for Adamawa State, a position renderd vacant for nearly 2 years following the retirement of the erstwhile Jiatice Bemare Bansi. Governor Murtala Nyako opted for one of his wives and has had a running battle with the Nigerian Judicial Council which rejected the move and Nyako stuck to his guns. Thus 4 Judges of the Adamawa High Court kept being recycled in 6 months of acting. Facts emerging indicate that Justice Ambrose Mammadi whose Acting expired dramatically because it fell on the nick of the mandatory 2 weeks of service of Notice, had been recommended back to the NJC by Nyako for renewal, but Nyako changed his mind when the impeachment proceedings began. Gov Nyako is said to have written a letter to NJC seeking approval of the tenure extension of the Ag CJ. But when things started to turn around, he( Nyako) approached the same NJC wishing to withdraw Justice Mammadis name for a female Judge. NJC reportedly declined the move, and returned an approval of the tenure extension for Justice Mammadi sensing a vacuum. Thus Fintiri did not appoint the Ag. Chief Judge. Nyako did, albeit by default. With George Kushi, Samson Bukar Mshelmbula, Abdulrahman Njidda Yebbi
